One Hand Pepper Grinder

– Design concept for a mechanical one-handed pepper mill

This design for a one-handed pepper mill was created in collaboration with Nicolas Nestler as part of the third-semester Bachelor’s module Designing with Digital Tools. In addition to the CAD model, a physical prototype was also constructed and a potential mechanical operating principle devised. This is inspired by the operating principle of a dynamo torch, which converts linear lever motion into unidirectional rotational motion. A flexible, toothed belt running along the inside of the rail was intended to serve as the connection between the lever and the grinding mechanism, whilst also acting as a support for the inclined mill.
