AI technology is associated with many expectations and prejudices, not least because the term “artificial intelligence” carries significant cultural and social connotations due to a multitude of science fiction narratives.

As part of my master’s thesis in the field of design research, this 23-minute video essay was produced, exploring the relationships between AI and design. While it is beyond doubt that AI will continue to have a strong impact on the design industry, this work primarily focuses on reversing that perspective: how can the application of design strategies influence the acceptance and usage behavior of AI applications in the future?

The essay is primarily aimed at young designers and is intended to use an engaging approach to illustrate creative methods that make the principles of machine learning more accessible and deconstruct the supposed mystique surrounding the topic of AI.
