Design Me, Please!
– Gift vouchers for personal development
The influence of modern media has given rise to a social trend towards self-improvement, the relevance of which shows no sign of waning even after many years. A prime example of this is the enduring success of self-help guides, motivational coaching and various lifestyle content found online. However, many people regularly fail to stick to their resolutions over the long term, as they lack discipline or long-term intrinsic motivation.
The “Design me, please!” project therefore explores, in an ironically exaggerated way, the idea of symbolically outsourcing self-improvement to one’s personal environment. This is achieved through a coupon booklet, the contents of which focus primarily on character traits. For the person in question, giving away a coupon is intended to provide an external incentive for inner development. People who have been given a coupon thus have the opportunity to request certain behaviours from the person who signed it (more spontaneity, more open-mindedness, etc.). In this way, a coupon from the booklet acts as an invitation to people in one’s personal environment to participate in one’s own character development.
By clicking the 'Open print layout' button, you can view and download the complete booklet (in German) containing all ten coupons in duplicate as a PDF. If required, you can then print it double-sided and bind it. The format corresponds to a third of an A4 page.
